Borris House

The ancestral home of the MacMorrough-Kavanaghs, High Kings of Leinster, Borris House is one of the most beautiful and historic Irish country houses located in the most spectacular scenery Ireland has to offer.

The backdrop of the river Barrow which flows beside the beautiful woodland and gardens of Borris House makes it the jewel in the crown of
Carlow. Located right at the heart of the Irish heritage village of Borris in South Carlow, Borris House is a unique venue for a range of events including weddings, concerts, civil ceremonies, exhibitions, historical house tours and of course, the National Country Fair.

However, Borris House is foremost a home, lived in by the MacMorrough-Kavanaghs for the past 550 years. Both the house and family are steeped in Irish history.  It is one of the few Irish estates that can trace its history back to the royal families of ancient Ireland. Set in over six hundred and fifty acres of walled private park and woodlands, Borris House retains its place as the centrepiece of the locality. It is to this very special venue we invite you to enjoy the 2013 National Country Fair, Ireland's premier country sports weekend.

Borris House will be open to the public on both days of the National Country Fair
