Falconry at Ballinlough
The Falconry Displays at game and country fairs are some of the most popular exhibits.  At the National Country Fair at Ballinlough Castle there will not only be one of the largest collections of birds of prey even seen in Ireland but they will be housed in purpose built Falconry Mews. More than twenty different birds of prey from Europe, Asia and North America will feature at the Falconry Mews.

Ranging from the tiny kestrel to the great American bald eagle, the birds of prey will be accessible and there to be seen, handled and enjoyed by all.

The spectacular Falconry Mews, will be manned by Europe's foremost team of falconers from the Phoenix Falconry School, which is based in Perthshire. In addition to the static display visitors to the 2010 Fair can enjoy an interactive display twice each day in the game fair's main arena.

Unlike other display teams whose birds only fly from perch to hand, these birds really are flown in the main arena. Team leader, Adrian Hallgarth said he was looking forward to this his second trip to the Republic for the National Country Fair and he promises visitors a display that will enthral young and old alike.

"For us, having the best birds available to make your day truly memorable is our chief goal." explains Adrian Hallgarth, who is an internationally respected falconer with over 30 years experience and an author of falconry books . "Our impressive and immaculate collection of over 20 different hawks, falcons, owls and eagles from all around the world have been painstakingly trained to accept you into their lives and share the joy of handling and flying them  What’s more, our birds are guaranteed to put on falconry demonstrations unmatched anywhere in Ireland. Remember, we do not demonstrate at any other shows in Ireland other than those organised by Bill Beckett and Derek Lutton"

The Irish National Country Fair is organised by Country Sports Promotions Ltd.
